It's a Love Story, Baby I said Yes!

I knew Adam was planning on visiting me over Thanksgiving break. He had not told me what time he was planning on arriving but I received a phone call from him around 6:30pm and he said
“Come to the place where you go in-between classes”
and then he hung up. Slightly confused I went first to the Pearson Commons and then to the Campus Ministry Center (CMC) only to find Adam dressed in suit and tie. Out of his inside coat pocket he pulled out a small slip of white paper that said
“This is the beginning of a wonderful adventure to which our life together will begin. Your first clue will be found at a place with the sparkly sign and food with fun board games. Let us start this journey together as we reflect on how much we’ve been through”

I knew that this clue led to the chatterbox pub (http://www.chatterboxpub.net/) in St. Paul. We got in the car and drove to the Chatterbox on Highland Ave. Once there we were seated and played a game of battleship while waiting for our food to arrive. Upon receiving our check the waiter handed another slip of paper and revealed a second clue!
“The next clue is located at a place in which the luck flows. It is here that you found out how much I truly love you as we rolled balls down the alley. I let you win J

I knew that it was at a bowling alley and I didn’t figure it was at the one back home or in Hutchinson. Since I had only been to one bowling alley in the twin cities we quickly got in the car and drove Saxon Lanes (http://www.amf.com/saxonlanes/centerHomepage.htm) in St. Paul. Upon arrival I had no idea where to go to look for a clue. After some guidance from Adam I found a clue tapped under a table near the gumball machine it read
“It was this night in which I attempted to make your favorite meal and I failed. You will find the next clue at the properly made part of the meal”
I immediately flashed back to the night that Adam attempted to make me homemade fettuccini Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce was the part of the meal that Adam did not successfully accomplish but that night was amazing as I saw how much work he had put into this one meal. After recalling that night I knew that the clue would be somewhere near Alfredo sauce perhaps a grocery store of some sort. Adam had to give me a little more guidance for me to discover which grocery store and we got on the road and drove to Cub Foods located in the Midway.

I found the proper isle where canned Alfredo sauce was and looked real hard. I could not find the clue. After some slight direction I spotted it tapped underneath the Alfredo sauce shelf. I was amazed that some Cub Foods worker had not spotted it and ripped the clue off to thrown in the garbage. In amazement I read the next clue…
“It was here in which I first spotted you and fell in love without knowing any better. As we sang songs, I could always pick out your voice in this room”
The choir room! Back to Concordia campus we drove and upon reaching the choir room doors the next clue was spotted
“It was in this place that we spent the evening dancing and having fun. You even go leid in this place!”
I thought of spring fling earlier that year and the Hawaiian Luau theme where I received a purple lei. It was held on campus in the Buenger Education Center (BEC). Sure enough after reaching the BEC was yet another clue!

“I spent a lot of time here that which you may not know. I would talk to God about our relationship and pray that He would always be the center of our relationship.”
Perhaps the chapel I thought. As we began to walk toward the chapel Adam stopped me and said “guess again”. I thought maybe at a church of some sort, but after informing me that this place was on campus I realized that it must be in the prayer chapel.

I got to the prayer chapel and went inside. I looked around but could not find anything. I went over to the alter and sure enough, under the bible was the next clue...
“It is here we take our rest and you will finish the adventure in the morning. I hope that you can find some sleep. The clue for tomorrow is found at a place in which we had lunch one time. To give you a hint, cluck, cluck, cluck, we were late to our next class.”
I was confused! You can’t seriously expect me to wait to finish this adventure until the morning?! No, Adam was serious. I had anticipation for what was to come. I had an inkling but was not sure of what was coming. Miraculously I was far too excited for Adam’s visit that I was able to take my mind of the scavenger hunt by catching up with Adam and after talking into the early morning hours I dozed off into sleep.
The next morning I awoke at around 10:30am. I went out into the living room to find Adam already awake and awaiting my presence.
“Ready to go?” he asked
After getting dressed in “real clothing” we headed to the Midway Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). We ordered lunch and ate at one of the high stool tables that Adam had specially picked out for us. After we finished our meal Adam asked me if I knew where the clue was at. I had no idea. He informed me that I would not have to move to find it.

I looked around and felt under the table to which I found a ducted taped paper that read...
“The next clue is found near the place that we huddled to keep warm in the howling wind and rain. It was build recently, and we went on this day to witness something very special. The clue is located under the nearest bench”
I had no idea, quite honestly. The clue was very vague from my point of view. Adam gave me a hint that we went here to watch one of my sisters. I thought of Kayli and her marching band competitions but none that I could remember were in the rain.
“Baseball!” Adam exclaimed
I then realized the clue was at the new Twins Stadium and the “something special” that we witnessed was when my younger sister Kayli went to sing the National Anthem at the Twins game earlier in the spring.
Pictures from the day that the clue is referencing.
I found the next clue and it read
"This is both a park and a zoo and it is a place where I came to first rescue you"

I knew it was at Como Lake since that is where we had been times before. Upon arrival at Como Lake I had a pretty good idea of where to look since there was always one bench in particular that we had been to many times before and sure enough under the bench I saw the clue and it said:
“The next clue is found where we enjoyed a special picnic. Follow the trail to the shoreline and go right. You will find there what you are looking for.”
I was shaking with excitement. Is this going to be what I think it is?! We drove to a trail that Adam had previously taken me on a picnic. Walking through the snow I could hear my heart in my head pounding. After going down a steep embankment toward the partially frozen Mississippi River Adam stopped walking.

“This is it” he said
I looked around and saw nothing; after turning me slightly I saw it. There it was carved in the rock it read “Will you marry me?”
“You did that? You did that. You did that!” I exclaimed
Then Adam got down on one knee and said
“Here I am down on one knee to submit to you, and one knee up to support you, Kristi Kay Kuhl will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?”
“Yes! Yes! Yes I will!”
It was perfect, the whole thing was perfect. The half frozen Mississippi River, the rock, the crisp cold earth beneath my feet, and then…it began to snow!! How absolutely perfect!

What a Deal!

Today several exciting things happened in the life of me. I had a church history test over terms and I feel I did alright, of course that's what I thought last time and I got a C. But I am bound and determined to not let grades get the best of me this semester and rather focus on the more important things. After my church history test I met David Edwards in the CMC who had also taken the test. We discussed how it went and then walked in the tunnel toward the RLC. On our way out we walked past the admission center to which we saw Dylan. We stopped and David want to see how long it would take Dylan to notice us starring at him. We starred for a good 3 min. until I made an incredibly loud, fake sneeze. Why this is significant to my day I do not know but it happened.
Anyways, fast forward to the part where I spent 2 hours in the library working yet again on my annotative bibliography. This thing has more hours put into it than ANY one assignment i've ever done including my 20 page OT paper. The main reason being is i'm ACTUALLY reading the articles (which are required to be a min of 15 pages) rather than faking it from glancing over it and reading the abstract. My logic is when it comes time to write my 25-30 page research paper for intro to counseling I will have all the important information and quotes highlighted because as I throughly read and annotate each article I highlight the things I feel are important as well as write summaries in the margins. I have 10 annotations complete which leaves 10 more to do by Monday. Needless to say I have read over 300 pages (thus far) of journal articles (scholarly, peer reviewed information) on "At-risk youth". I would like to think I am an expert. ;)
As I was in the library I realized I needed my flute for band so I sent Erin a text and once again it went to the wrong Erin (Schutte). Anyways I then sent Erin Rudolph a message and she said she would bring my flute. When it came time for band (which immediately follows my intro to counseling class), Erin had forgotten so I quickly ran back to the RLC to get my flute. I was only 4 minutes late so I felt pretty good.
After band I went back to the library and read 2 more sources and annotated them and then headed off to the Dinning Hall for supper. I sat with AJ, and Dan Sailer. A fight broke out, yes a legit fight, and Melvin (one of the cooks) came over and was yelling "there is no fighting in my dining hall". I thought it was funny that he called it "his" dining hall. The best part (or maybe the worst) was that President Holst and his wife were at a table nearby eating supper with Barrett. Way to represent Concordia. After security came and took away 2 of the 6 guys Amanda called me.
I had forgotten I agreed to go to the Mall of America with her as she had coupons. I was tired and not excited but I am sure glad I went. At Deb there was a clearance rack with dresses all $10.00 and it was buy one get one 1/2 off. I got three dresses for a total of $15.00!! What a deal!!!

I am now ready for bed so I can awake for my 8:00am class and have a busy day of classes and field work YAY!
Peace

Mold Me

I'm not supposed to let others opinions get to me. It becomes rather difficult when the whole world is telling you that what you think, who you love, everything...is wrong. People change, it's in the past, and yet things come back to haunt one over and over again. Don't get me wrong everyone is allowed to have an opinion, but it's when one begins to question you, as a person, that an opinion has gone too far. Life is hard. People are cruel. The world is flawed. This is a life lesson that one must learn at some point.
We all start out life as a giant blob of clay. We are on the makers table with millions of other blobs of clay. We are then pressed, pulled, beaten, and cut. Sometimes by objects our maker holds, and sometimes by objects that other blobs hold. Some pieces fall off, and we lose a piece of ourselves, molded into a new and refreshing look. Then we come in contact with other blobs and as we collide a part of them rubs off on us, just as we do on them. One can be pressed from all directions, it's how we are molded to become who we are, but too much pressing, pulling, cutting in the same spot does more harm than good. Such is life. We are molded, pulled, cut, and collide in life, in order to become...complete

Mold me into something
That only you can do
Make me the kind of person
And help me follow You.

Mold and mend me
And lead me on the way
Take me down that road again
Help me not to stray.

Mold me with Your precious hands
Know I’m here to serve
I want to be the person
The one that You deserve.

Mold me Lord
And make me be
Make me like
Thy soul to Thee.

Mold me now
Within Your hands
Help me Lord
Follow your plans.

Mold me
Like the jar of clay
Help me Lord
Hear me pray.

Mold me now
Please hear me say.
I want to serve You
On this day.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times

Early on a Saturday morning, a small group of college students set off for a wonderful adventure! We arrived at a construction site in Marquette and gathered together to hear our assignments for the day. First assignment was to drill holes into a concrete wall to put screws in to support the particle board.

Then they put us to work on the floorboards. They already had the floor trusses into place and we simply had to glue and line up and nail gun the boards into place.

We finished that around 3 and I was exhausted but I found my new love for carpentry. I have always wanted to work construction because it is the most manly and satisfying work :)

After work, I took a nap and then went to church. It was busy busy bee at church! Then after church I called you because you called me DURING church. Then I made dinner, smoked sausage and potatoes!

And now I'm gonna go because I am playing 4 games at once!

Blue Shirts

Today I got a chance to catch up on some much needed sleep :) I slept in until 10:30am and then took a shower. Today is dress like your roommate day. We are all wearing blue shirts (with writing) and jeans. When Erin went to purchase the shirts last night. Due to the fact that everyone and their dog has homecoming soon and they have class color days the t-shirt variety was limited. So the only color that had sizes even pseudo relevant to ours was blue. I really like blue so I was fine with that. The sizes are men's so they are big to begin with. Danielle and Amanda got mediums and were swimming in them. I got an XL as did Erin and they are both very big. We all tied/pinned them so that they fit better. They are super cute. For lunch I went to the dining hall and coughed through the whole meal. Now it's off to class for the day. I need to talk to Dr. Trapp after class and get my recommendation and work on my portfolio. I got an e-mail from Heather from Teens Alone and she is going to come pick up the boxes from Menards on Friday at 6:00pm. I have lots to do this weekend to get caught up on stuff so it will be busy and I need to work lots of things.

Buried in Scripture

I have spent the majority of the day today buried in Scripture preparing for Rooted this evening. I really want to provide the college students with some solid Scripture to tie into this next section of the video.

I am also learning just how difficult it is to plan a mission trip... I have got a proposed budget down and it will be about $300 per student. That is on the high end. However, I need to have a 25 yr old driver to rent the van and drive it. I have a few adults in mind, but some of them are older and can't drive for that long...

I just realized that I need to take some extra time to organize my Sunday Morning Youth Bible study because I haven't been doing that much... and it has been very rough... It is hard to plan for Sunday because I don't want to do it on Friday and Saturday I'm not motivated enough, which means I do it on Thursday while at work and its just difficult because its like 3 days away...

There is a pastors conference here at the church next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Pastor wanted me to make up a welcome slide presentation type thing so I made one with Prezi. Here it is!

That's about all I've got for today!

I hope you had a great time at fieldwork and the rest of your Wednesday went well!

Love ya lots!
